It is officially summer! For many families, that means it's time to travel! Whether it's heading off to camp, the beach, the grandparent's house, or overseas, BBO wants to make sure you’re ready for a long and exciting summer while still protecting your smile and your braces.

If you are due for a checkup or an adjustment, it is best to take care of this before you leave to keep your braces working at their maximum efficiency. We will be able to take care of any small issues before they become big ones.

Plan ahead and pack everything you need! It would be a bummer for you to reach your destination and realize that you forgot something important and then have to scramble to find what you need, or even do without. Make sure to bring a toothbrush and toothpaste, floss/floss threaders/interdental cleaners, and wax.

Stick with your oral care routine. This is one of the most challenging, but also one of the most important! Keeping your teeth clean helps shorten the length of your treatment and also prevents cavities and gingivitis. If you let your routine slide while away, it is difficult to resume once you get back home.

Follow your orthodontic care instructions. If you are supposed to use rubber bands or wear invisible aligners, don’t let the fun of your trip distract you from following through. Skipping even a few days can delay your treatment. You are putting so much effort into a beautiful smile, there is no sense letting anything slow it down!

Eat the right foods. Although it is fun to try new foods, and indulge in different sweets, you don’t want to risk damaging your braces. Don’t forget to avoid crunchy, sticky, chewy, or hard foods and to cut your food into small bites. You can still enjoy a wide variety of foods while staying within the guidelines for eating with braces.

It is worth the little bit of extra effort during a vacation or while away at camp so that you can enjoy your healthy, beautiful smile without unnecessary delays. We hope you have an amazing summer, no matter what plans you have!

Today marks 21 years that Janice has been part of the BBO family! Yes, this means she started as a wee one as you can see in her first day photo 😉 While Janice has been working remotely this year, you've probably heard her cheery voice on the phone while scheduling an appointment or reviewing financials. Janice is a wealth of knowledge and wears many hats! We appreciate her bubbliness (she is so smiley!), dedication (she is always working her tail off) and awesomeness (she's amazing!) 🙌 Congrats on this tremendous achievement! 🏆 We are endlessly grateful to have you on our team. Please join us in thanking Janice for 21 amazing years at BBO! 👏👏👏

⚡️Transformation Tuesday ⚡️ Meet Rosa 👋 She came to us with a crossbite of her right canine and a forced shift of her jaw to her right side due to the position of the tooth. She also didn’t like the way her front teeth were protruding and the space between them. Using aligners, we corrected her crossbite, closed the gap between the front teeth, and relaxed the front teeth to a less procumbent position. Looking fab Rosa 👌🏻 #bbosmiles #transformationtuesday #lookatthatsmile #somers #invisalign #bridgham #barr ... See MoreSee Less
